A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to start a restaurant club because there are so many fun places I want to try around LA. I also thought it would be fun to have monthly dates with some of our favorite couples. Last night was the first installment and we were joined by our dear friends Mike and Loni (the same couple who we explored Pioneertown with). They are usually game for anything which is one of the many things I love about them. We decided on The Lazy Ox Canteen as our first restaurant and set off on a mini-adventure to Little Tokyo in LA. The food was great (loved the short ribs) and the desserts (especially the rice pudding) reaffirmed my faith in God. After we headed over to One Eyed Gypsy for cocktails (I’m having a bit of a love affair with old fashioned’s at the moment) and a surprise photobooth shoot- I’m s sucker for a photobooth. The look on Brian’s face in the first picture just kills me. He kinda looks he’s in a 1800’s portrait or something. He says he was caught off guard by the flash.
Today Brian dragged me to REI to go shopping. He’s going on a backpacking trip with his boys next week and needed new gear and because I am such a fabulous person I decided to accompany him. It’s times like these that I realize how different we are. I personally can’t think of anything less enjoyable than hiking through the wilderness for 5 days with a 50 pound backpack strapped to my back. Nor do I want to wonder if I should skip wearing deodorant to avoid attracting bears. Count me out. Brian on the other hand is super excited about all of this.
I will be dragging him to yoga class tonight (a really really hard one) as paycheck for making me spend an hour and a half of my life in REI. Although he did look kinda cute trying on various hats.
Last but not least- did you notice the new 365 til 30 header?! I thought it would be fun to update the header each year as a way to set the new tone. When I decided I wanted to change it I enlisted Rachel of One Part Gypsy to create it (she created last years header too). I am so so so happy with it. It just feels right.
