Zihuatanejo, Mexico

2 Mar

On Valentines day weekend Brian and I went to Zihuatanejo, Mexico with his parents to celebrate a family friends 10th wedding anniversary. As I mentioned in a previous post I have been to this part of Mexico before but sadly I never left the resort that trip- how lame, huh? So it was fun to explore more of the area this round. The highlight of the trip was most definitely the day we spent on a boat- complete with a stop on an island for a fresh seafood lunch & a whale sighting. The only unfortunate part of the trip was that it remained overcast most of the time. I have to admit I was a tad bummed because I planned on getting an epic tan. But at this point, I have learned to just go with the flow when traveling and enjoy what is instead of what I thought it should be. Here’s a glimpse of our trip!

INSPIRATION, GRATITUDE AND SURPRISES

What inspired me this week?

My morning walks on the beach

The movie “Like Crazy”– what an honest film about love

A note I received from this adorable 15-year-old blogger. She said- “I really love your blog”. How cool that a 15-year-old girl likes my blog. So sweet! Just wait…pretty soon you’ll be almost 30 too!

this note from the universe

Taking massive action on massive dreams amidst massive uncertainties, Kate, is pretty much where everyone had to start.
And then things got way easier.
Massive love,
The Universe

This Flock of Seagulls song…it’s been in my head all week…

What am I grateful for this week?

Movie date nights with my 16-year-old brother. He’s a great date.

M street Fleur de sel chocolate chip cookies – Why oh why did I have to discover you?!

Lazy weekends

Sleeping 10 hours two nights in a row (it’s true and I wasn’t drugged!)

What surprised me this week?

How easy life can be when you stop thinking it’s so hard.

What a bad connect four player Brian is or better yet I’ll say what a fabulous connect four player I am!! The score was 8 / 2 . It was ugly.

CAMPING : RECAP

For those of you who recently joined the 365 til 30 party, camping was the very first goal I crossed off the list. Simply put, it was the easiest to tackle…sleeping in the dirt is surprisingly easy to manifest. To recap…camping and I had a love/hate relationship…there was no middle ground for us. I was either singing its praises or cursing it all. I was like a crazy person. The highlights included “The Tent”“The Chicken” and “The Hike”.

When I got home from camping, I thought to myself – “Well, there is something I will never do again”. Sure it had it’s fun moments (s’mores) but overall I thought it was pretty exhausting.  Here I am though, 4 months later, and surprisingly I am going camping again. In DECEMBER no less and the kicker is…it was my friend Rachel‘s and my idea. When my mother heard the plan she told me she can only assume Rachel and I had been drinking when we came up with the brilliant idea. We weren’t. The story goes like this- we thought it would be fun to go camping together considering that Rachel and her boyfriend PJ love to camp and they have some truly great camping supplies (camping stove, air mattress, camelback campfire dual skewer and a pancake maker), so we looked at our calendars and checked with our guys (and also invited another adventurous couple) and December 16th was the only date that worked for everyone for the next few months.

So, as ridiculous as this may sound…I am going camping in December and I hate the cold. I’m actually under 3 blankets as I write this.

But this time the adventure will include 3 couples, one small chihuahua named Nala and the beach.

Nothing like morning cartwheels on the beach to start the day. Today my big plans involve…

yoga (Brian’s joining which is fun because he’s very cute doing it)…

dinner (hopefully something that resembles vegetables and not pumpkin pie, cheese, mashed potatoes or ham) …

and a movie (I’ll see anything at this point it’s been so long).

On the way home from San Luis Obispo we stopped for a beautiful hike along the beach at Montana de Oro and it was so worth it.
