looking forward to…

Carving a scary pumpkin with Brian, dressing Frank in his taco costume and parading him around town on Halloween, eating copious amounts of candy on Halloween, celebrating our wedding anniversary on November 9th (we’re turning two!), celebrating thanksgiving with our families (we are joining them all together for the first time), the holidays in general, getting a christmas tree (every year we name our tree Bert and this year it will be Bert IV), a quiet December with more time for creative projects, finishing some projects around the house, my upcoming trip to Kansas City to visit my step father Irv and to Atlanta to visit my girlfriend Chantal and her sweet family.

reading…

Oy. I got so many books going right now. My goal to read all these (& these) books by the end of the year has turned me into a reading machine (it has also set me up for failure. I still have so many to read!). I plan on putting together a book review post at some point. “At some point”- famous last words. Anyway, I read and LOVED “Everything I Never Told You”- I devoured it in three days. Then I moved onto “Luckiest Girl Alive” for one of my book clubs- still haven’t finished it. Can’t seem to get into it. What am I missing here? I think I still plan on finishing it. Maybe? It’s sits next to my bed waiting for me to pick it back up. In the meantime I’ve moved onto “Big Magic” and so far I am loving it. It’s all about living an inspired and creative life and I’m down for that.

watching…

So much tv- it’s embarrassing. I wish there weren’t so many shows that we liked. On Sundays we watch “Homeland” & “The Walking Dead”…on Monday we (or maybe I should say I)  watch the new sitcom “Life In Pieces” (have you seen it? I’m not one to laugh out loud when watching television but this show gets me every single time. The first episode literally had me crying)…on Tuesdays I got nothing (I usually catch up on my reading that night)…on Wednesdays we watch “American Horror Story”…on Thursdays we (ok, I force Brian to watch with me. It’s what marriage is all about, right?) watch “Grey’s Anatomy” (yes, some people still do. I can’t give up now, I’ve been watching it for twelve years at this point), “Scandal” & “How To Get Away With Murder”. Oh and then you have netflix…I am obsessed with “The Affair’ right now. We are six episodes into the first season and love it. Oh and lastly, we watched “Amy Schumer: live at the Apollo” on HBO last night. HAAAA. I love that women. So many inappropriate jokes but so funny.

you know what I’m not watching…

“The Leftovers”- I keep trying to watch it but I don’t think I’m smart enough. But really…is anyone smart enough? What is this show even about?? It frustrates me to no end.

practicing…

mindfulness in all things I do…from making the bed…to taking Frank on his morning walks…to spending time with the people I love.

loving…

My girlfriends. This is a constant feeling for me, but lately I’ve just been so in awe of the females in my life. Each relationship adds so much joy to my life and I can feel their support at all times. The tiny hints of fall in the air in Los Angeles, movie dates with my mom and brother (it takes me back to childhood. we have some good laughs), evening walks with Frank and Brian, flannel shirts,  avocados, pictures of my fiends babies (so many cute kids!), going to bed at ten (ok, 9:30) every night (I like my sleep) and my husband…I’m always loving my husband.

What are you guys currently up to?

I didn’t love Luckiest Girl Alive! It’s way darker / not as sexy as it is marketed and I ultimately felt a little bit gypped…I’m not saying don’t finish it butttt, so many books, so little time! If you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it! Glad you’re loving Big Magic! Also you have IMPRESSIVE TV skillz and I need to catch up. I think I might make The Affair next! Hugs!

You have a full slate, as always. The holidays sound exciting. I will be in San Diego, for Thanksgiving and my birthday, with son & his crowd, as always. Christmas will find me back east, in Boston, for time with my Mom, siblings and extended brood. In the meantime, teaching occupies much of my time. I get in good hikes when I can- doing the Prescott Circle Trail and Black Canyon Rec Trail, one segment at a time. Trip to Tucson, at the beginning of December, and social events closer to home, will fill in any blanks I have left.

Don’t laugh, because I appreciate it’s pathetic-ness…but I started Gossip Girl from the beginning 1.5 wks ago and I’m already halfway done with season 4. Yes…I am that cool. On the level of watching it in the first place, and also in how much free time I apparently have. 🙂

No judgement from me!! Although, I have never seen a single episode. I hear it’s good though! I fear that if I started it I too would be four seasons in quite quickly:)

Haha it’s really not that great. But the clothing is inspiring. I love watching their outfits and can’t help feeling a little envious of their lives!

    Yay for currently posts! 🙂
I could respond to all of your things, but the most important one is that you and I BOTH are still holding strong in the Grey’s Anatomy must-see club. I mean, yeah. I’ve put in 12 years, so I’m not giving up yet. 😉 And I think that we love tv/netflix as much as you and Brian. So, when we get together one day, a night out on the town and a cozy night in binging on nexflix and bottles of wine. You down?! xoxo

Love that photo of Frank 🙂 Also, I am so looking forward to 1) celebrating my anniversary on the 22nd (tomorrow) 2) celebrating Charlotte’s first (!) birthday on the 31st (her party is a few days before her actual birthday but I’m excited for both days) 3) getting a Christmas tree 4) all things Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday!)

One of my ‘goals’ (so to speak) as we finish out 2015 is to be more mindful, as well. I have really been lacking in self-control (in so many areas of my life) and really need to start being more considerate before engaging in negative behaviors (being disrespectful to Marty, overeating, gossiping, veg-ing when I should be more productive…)

I had to sit down and compile a list so I could tell you all the shows I watch. I’d be embarrassed except, I work from home so most of the shows I watch are not watched in real time and keep me company during the day! Ok, Monday’s I watch: Gotham, Minority Report, Blindspot and Fargo. Tuesday’s I watch The Muppets, Scream Queens, Grandfathered, The Grinder, iZombie, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris and Limitless. Wednesday’s I watch The Goldbergs, Blackish, Modern Family, Empire, The Myteries of Laura, Chicago PD and American Horror Story-this new season is insane! Thursday’s I watch Scandal, How To Get Away with Murder, Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist and Elementary-which hasn’t started back yet. Friday’s I will watch Grimm when it starts back up but that’s all for now 🙂 Nothing on Saturdays unless someone awesome is on SNL. I use Friday and Saturday nights to watch all the sitcoms with my husband. Including a Life in Pieces which I think is fantastic! Sunday’s I watch Once Upon A Time, Homeland, The Affair, The Leftovers, and CSI Cyber. I bet I left something out! It’s a ridiculous amount of TV and it is watched mainly on Hulu on On Dand because so many shows come on at the same time.
I reading a lot as well. I just finished The Big Bad Book of Bil Murray, Vanessa and her Sister, Villa America and Paris in Love and I really enjoyed all of them. I also read The Mockingbird Next Door: Life with Harper Lee and had high expectations for it but was not as impressed as I wanted to be. Currently I am reading Funny Girl by Nick Hornby and I have a stack waiting which includes Cambridge by Susana Kaysen and Cathage by Joyce Carol Oates and Yes, Please by Amy Poeler. It’s no wonder it’s 2AM and I am up typing this!!! 😉
