Considering it is officially spring, our patio space has once again become my focus. Let the outdoor living begin! Our loft was designed to be an indoor / outdoor space. It’s one of my favorite things about our home. When we bought the place the previous owners were nice enough to leave behind an outdoor couch, coffee table and a slew of planters- which was amazing because we had zero outdoor furniture when we moved in.The only problem…none of it is really our style. Our loft is very modern and all of it is rather traditional looking. Because of this I have been wanting to give the patio a makeover. The only things we have added over the last two years…a few bright green planters (which Brian has begun planting his dream garden in), a grill, an umbrella & Franks “special” patch of grass.
Current patio space…
My new vision for the patio…
modern furniture with bright pops of color!! Oh and a designated garden area for my love.
Here are my inspiration photos…

I love all of the plants you have! Brian is definitely on top of all of that. I so wish I was good at it. I started last year but I find it hard here in Florida because of the heat and all of the rain and humidity. Ugh! I started creating my back patio in September. It was just this outdoor space between our yard and the sliding glass doors and a friend of mine who blogs mentioned she could help me. We started a private Pinterest board. She asked me to take a picture of my favorite pieces of jewelry so I did and she went from there. As she started adding pictures to the board, I started adding and together we realized a vision of colors and concepts. I will send you a picture via instagram so you can see where I am right now. I still need a few things, but the overall idea really come together and we didn’t spend too much.
Is there a way you could paint your existing furniture? One of the things I am always trying to do is turn stuff into other stuff. I am not extremely creative in that way but with I am trying. If you could find the right paint you could paint the wicker or whatever the couch is made of, and you could get either new cushions or get them covered and you could add different pillows.
I love the patch of grass you made for Frank. It’s perfect!
The bottom several photos seem to reflect you, a lot better than the Big Old Sofa.
Love the planters in your inspiration photos!!! But really I wasn’t paying attention to much except Frank.
Great pictures and great plans!
I am dreaming of my dream patio space now – thanks so much for sharing and for the inspiration 🙂 Happy Day – Happy Relaxing!!!
I think the patio would be one of my favorite things about your home, as well. Such a beautiful space. I love all of the plants that you have out there! I can’t wait to have a patio someday. We do have a ‘backyard’ at our duplex but the previous owners had it paved so that residents didn’t have to use street parking. I am really just wanting a bit of space for a small garden for some herbs or even a tomato plant. 🙂
I love your inspirational photos! Well, I love your actual photos too + what an amazing space you have! – Liz (belovelivephotography on IG)
So jealous of that baby tomato plant already – it’s about to snow here. Love this space- looking forward to seeing what you do! Also: FRANK’S HYDRANT.
So … when are you available to fly here and help my style my outdoor space?! I love what you’ve done with the space. Makes me miss having one too many glasses of wine and staring out at your incredible sunsets. BIG hugs! (and sorry I haven’t stopped by in awhile!)
