Christmas…2010…Brian and I had been dating a few months (maybe seven?)…we weren’t living together yet but it was clear that we were headed in that direction. So we decided that “we” would get a Christmas tree that year and that it would live at Brian’s house…it was also decided that that tree would be named Bert. Bert 1 was tiny, fat and crooked but he was ours and he symbolized us being a family unit…so he was perfect. Cut to…Christmas season 2014…and we are welcoming Bert 4 into our home. It’s crazy how much has changed in the past four years. Below you can see the progression of the Berts. I will say the newest Bert is pretty perfect and is decorated with ornaments that we have collected the past few years and with it so many memories. The last picture kills me….Clearly, Frank was not so sure about having a tree in the house.

I love the documented Berts! And Frank’s reaction to Bert is perfection (my dog is the same way – ‘what is this thing in the house that thinks it’s bigger than me?’). Happy holidays to you, Brian, Frank & Bert 🙂
I think that is exactly what Frank is thinking!! haha. Happy Holidays to you too!! It’s almost baby time!! So excited for you guys! What a special holiday time for you:)
You two are just perfect together! I love the photos of Bert and the fact that you’ve documented them over the years. I am glad you posted a photo of your new California ornament. When I first started reading the post I had hoped you’d post a picture of it! 🙂
Yeah, I’m pretty happy with the new California ornament:)
Frank may sense that the needles are toxic to him. Be careful.
I actually didn’t know that! Thank you!
This is so sweet, Kate! Love that you documented all of the ‘Berts’ and how happy and excited you both look in all of the pics : ) XO
Thanks sweets! It’s most definitely my favorite time of year!
Sock Monkey is a star !!!!
Frank doesn’t look too excited at all! It’s usually Mum and Dad’s cat who gets the most fun out of the tree – batting around the plastic ornaments Mum puts on the bottom branches on purpose 🙂
Bert the Fourth looks amazing, he’s plump and decorated perfectly! Chris and I got our first tree this year (plastic for us Down Under I’m afraid) as a gift from my parents, and I can’t wait to put him up in our own home next year! For now he’s lighting up the house we are living in and it makes me so happy to see him there 🙂
Now, I need to find a name for our tree!
Awesome! Love it!
Did you have a Bert-less Christmas in there somewhere?! Because Christmas 2010 was five holiday seasons ago. How crazy is that???? Why must time insist on flying so damn quickly? Also, good on you for getting that tree all gussied up in his holiday finest. This is me, raising my hand and saying that the tree that’s been in our living room since the last day of November is still naked as the day we brought her home from the lot. Poor gal doesn’t even have a name.
