Hello all! Apologies for being MIA this week- it’s been a pretty crappy few days over here. It started with Brian’s beloved grandfather passing away and never got any better. It’s just been a heavy and stressful week. So in hopes to combat my mood I decided I wanted to do a “happy post” today.
Things that have been making me happy lately…
– receiving this new picture of Frank from the breeder. I mean, seriously do pups get any cuter?? I can’t believe how much bigger he has gotten in two weeks and those nails are crazy!
– Brian planned us a little date night tonight and I am SOOOO looking forward to it. We need a night out on the town together to get out of our funks.
– daydreaming about the next five months….getting Frank, my 31st birthday, summer bbq’s, bachelorette weekend in Sedona, wedding shower, WEDDING, honeymoon…let the fun times roll!
– writing for hours at my favorite little coffee shop
– finding the perfect wedding shoes and the ridiculous picture that followed of my mom and I both wearing them. She just HAD to put them on too. Next thing I knew we were doing a photo shoot with the shoe salesman. Then my mom almost fell over- in her defense she’s not much of a heel wearer anymore.
– drinking beers and watching the sunset with Bri on our patio
– celebrating Brian’s grandfathers life and meeting all of his extended family members- they are a good bunch
– My step-mama and I are going to try on my wedding dress tomorrow and look at veils! Still on the fence about the whole veil thing but I will take any excuse to put my dress on.
– planning our camping trip next weekend in Mammoth. I know, me going camping again? What has this world come to??
– taking long showers while the bathroom is bathed in morning light
What are the little things that have been making all of you happy this week? Post below!

Frank is so cute. So sorry about losing your grandfather as you are almost in the family now. Love the shoes and nothing is more fun than the things you have set up for the wedding, parties, showers, the big day, etc. Sounds like so much fun and I love hearing about you and Brian enjoying the sunsets and BBQ’s. That all makes me happy listening to it. Sedona is wonderful and believe it or not I have never been there. .
What a week. So sorry about Brian’s grandfather. 😦 Bravo for finding the little bits of joy in your week.
Um, hello Frank- IS HE KIDDING? Nugget.
Your wedding shoes rock!
Enjoy date night. 🙂
Mike and I are so sorry to hear about Brian’s grandpa. Let us know if there’s anything we can do. Seriously, we come armed with anything from pizza and beer to toilet paper and milk. Or hugs.
I adore you guys. Thank you. Can’t wait to see you this weekend for our camping adventure!!
xoxo
So sorry about the loss of Brian’s grandfather. I know it’s hard to find joy in a time like this, but good for you for making the effort.
And Frank- gah! That face! Cuteness overload.
I’ve been stealing morning cuddles with my Lucy-dog in the morning before getting out of bed. Her morning sounds really make me smile, and that’s not a bad way to start the day.
Rachel, thank you for your sweet words. SO appreciated. I always look forward to your comments.
hi kate!!
sorry to hear about brian’s grandfather ❤
hope the two of you enjoy your night out!! (im sure you will)
the little things that have been making me happy lately are…
my two nephews! the older one Christopher who is always giving me hugs and kisses! (him and i are very alike) and for the little one Andrew whos finally starting to give me hugs and kisses! he isn't a softy like his older brother!!
Being invited to the cottage this weekend for 2 whole nights!! …looking forward to enjoying good company with vodka beside me!
meeting someone last week who said some things to me that really stuck! he follows mine and his favourite band (pearl jam) around as they tour! i told him i wish i could get up and go….he told me i could!! i made excuses due to work – he told me not to make excuses!! so I woke up the next day and pretty much said f*ck it….i have a cousin who lives in LA and i want to go see her at the end of july!! i am now in the process of making the plans!! LA….here i come!
realizing how lucky i am yet again for my health!! my 23 year old cousin is here from italy and out of nowhere got sick…went to the hospital and was told he had to have open heart surgery!!!!!!
can you imagine one week being okay and the next you are in ICU! …in another country! god bless canada's health care system! Happy to say his surgery went well and hes in recovery now and out of ICU! ill be seeing him tomorrow!
Lastly Kate, and this is a BIG ONE….i'm happy that today i purchased a ticket to go see MIKE DOOLEY!!! he's coming to toronto next week for a full day seminar!! For 3 days i kept thinking about how great it would be to go but I couldnt find anyone to go with and i had to take the day off work to attend! SO….I just brought the ticket…told the office I won't be in next week and ill make up my day off the following week and decided im perfectly fine with going alone! I found YOUR blog off of his website!! I can't wait!!!

Hey Kate..
Well I found “notes from the universe” off of instagram. The singer Christina Perri had posted a picture of the email she received from http://www.tut.com. So I looked it up and became a follower. I’m very into the law of attraction and I believe it works!! I have my very own dream board and all hanging in my room that I made over a year ago just after a break up! I believe in the power of the universe but don’t really know how to put it to work! I do and I don’t…I feel stuck inbetween HENCE why I jumped on buying a ticket to his seminar even if it means i’m going alone! Anyway I was on his site and started reading “Success stories” one by one and I started reading yours and felt inspired!!! While reading the first paragraph about how your life didn’t look the way you thought it would look and everyone else’s life was looking better, I felt a sense of relief that someone else out there was describing exactly how I’ve been feeling the last two years!! I starting following your blog every since and although I follow others, yours is always my favorite to read!! But yup…that’s how I came across your blog!! and got my cousin following you too!! We both love your writing!
That is just about the sweetest note I have ever received. Thank you SOOOOO much for your kind words and support. I am grateful to have you along for the ride. Can’t wait to hear alllllll about your adventure to the Mike Dooley seminar. Don’t forget to email me the highlights! Have fun!
xo

My condolences on the loss of Brian’s grandfather. The truly beautiful thing about being committed to one another is that you are there for each other in sunshine and in rain. My Penny and I had lots of fabulous times and we stuck together like glue, through the darkness.
This week and last have brought another dear woman into my life, and while she doesn’t know it yet, I am totally in love with her and will be committed to her well-being and happiness, as I was to Penny’s.
Thank you for your condolences. I appreciate it. Your note made me very very very happy. I am so happy love has once again found you. You deserve all the fabulous things coming in to your life.
