Frank Glodneyme and Frank

me and Frank 2

The search is over! We found Frank! I’m a mom!

On Saturday morning Brian and I drove all the way down to Lake Forest to meet a litter that I’ve had my eye on for the last few weeks, hoping Frank would be there. When we arrived, the breeder had all the male pups out for us to look at- four to be exact. They were all so damn cute, I would have taken them all if I could. But, in the end we picked this little guy because he had a playful and funny little personality- he just seemed like Frank. Sadly, we couldn’t bring him home yet because he’s still too little. I have to wait patiently until June 28th. Sigh. It’s going to be a long few weeks. I guess it will give me time to prepare for the little guy. We’re also planning on squeezing in a camping trip before we are homebound with a puppy for a few months. I’ve never raised a puppy before…am I totally in for it? Was I crazy to add this to my plate five months before our wedding?? I’m sure my therapist will think so! On the way home from the breeder I told Brian that I thought it would be nice if we incorporated Frank into our wedding ceremony (maybe he could carry the rings on his back?) and I got the look again- the look that tells me he thinks I am insane. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that I think my Frank craziness has only just begun! Buckle up, Brian.

My favorite part of this post is that Frank uses your (future) last name. So cute. I never thought of my dog as Cholula Howe!
You might be in for it, but it’s so fun. At least you live in a warm climate- we got Cholula when it was snowy. Not ideal for potty-training…One thing we did that saved our sanity was hire a trainer when she was old enough to “get it.” We did the PetSmart puppy training classes and those helped, but the true private trainer was the difference. Oh, and go to a dog park a lot- socializing a puppy is important so they are comfortable around all sorts of people and dogs!
I want to meet that little fur ball. Congrats!

Thank you for all your tips!! Cholula seems to be very well behaved so I will follow your lead:) I’m so excited!

Welcome to the adventures of puppy training! It was a solid 18 months before we felt like we had a well-trained dog. Hopefully Frank shapes up well before that time!!

And I second Amber – training in the snow is no fun! Wicket had the misfortune of spending his prime training time in the middle of a Michigan winter. We had to build him a bathroom igloo of sorts at one point because the snow was drifting upwards of 3 feet. Little dogs love their L.A. life! Congrats on your soon-to-be-here new addition!

Yay!! Congrats. Puppies are amazing, have patience and enjoy all the snuggles.

You could have renamed your blog 365 to Finding Frank! I feel like we have heard just as much about your future doggie that it could have worked haha. I’m happy for you that you finally found your puppers at long last. He’s such a cutie!

You drove to Lake Forest and didnt’ call us to say hi! (It’s two minutes away from us). BOO. He’s super cute. Just remember, the dog gets no love after the babies 🙂

How exciting- congratulations! Puppies are such bundles of unconditional love, and remember that petting dogs releases oxytocin, which relieves stress. SO, while puppy training and wedding planning at the same time may be stressful, you also have built-in stress relief with Frank’s cuteness. I recommend taking lots of puppy pictures- they grow so fast!

Awe thanks, Rachel!! I love your thoughts! I’m going to pet the hell out of that little guy when I’m feeling stressed!!! 🙂

      Good call!!!

…on the dog petting = less stress, that is 😉
But then, my favorite line was, “Buckle up, Brian.”

Congrats! Yes, the mania begins! I hated cats and was allergic my whole life til my 17 year old daughter, Cristina, brought one home and then left for college shortly thereafter. Now I sleep with two cats on my bed. Go figure. Since you are a writer, I leave you with this quote: “Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.” ― Groucho Marx

Ahh, you’re in for a treat! We’ve had our Frenchie for 11 years now – and there’s no better joyride than with our little (NOT – he’s 31 lbs) guy! And if you introduce them early enough – they like camping, too! 🙂
