Back in October when I was at Jennifer Pastiloff’s Manifestaion Retreat she had each of us write our “rules to live by” . I find myself thinking of them often (especially when I feel like I am just getting through the day and not being mindful) and wanted to share them with you all…

My rules to live by:

1. be fucking amazing everyday

2. find the joy in everything I do

3. constantly push myself out of my comfort zone

4. write everyday

5. respect and value Brian and our relationship

6. laugh, laugh, laugh

7. enjoy the process

8. practice yoga

9. respect myself, my feelings and desires

10. worry less

11. act with love

12. live in gratitude

13. enjoy great food and wine

14. read interesting books

15. go on a travel adventure once a year

What are your rules to live by? I’d love to hear!

Love this! Some of mine are…
    – Love and respect myself completely
    – Pay myself more before I pay others
    – Give thanks everyday
    – Surround myself with people who inspire me

I love the surrounding yourself with others who inspire you. That one is key for me as well! It’s like my fall back plan for those days when I’m not quite as amazing as I’d like to be – I can feed off of them and feel great again!

Love these Kate! I just did this again at the Atlanta workshop, and added a few…
-Travel often. Learn about new places and cultures.
    -Smile at children.
    -Sing everyday.
-Do handstands for fun, not just to show off in yoga.
    -Eat chocolate.
-Read. Write. Allow yourself to be inspired, and inspiring.

Katie, yours are so full of life! I love them:)

I also included “Don’t get bangs. Ever.” But that was really more for me than everyone (although it’s a little for everyone).

        Hahaha- that’s hysterical!

Love ’em! Jenn’s workshops should be mandatory in high school… college… and every 2-3 years as an adult. Check in. Make sure you’re living by your “rules” and loving your life to its fullest.

Love your post:) My top 3 are 1) Explore and Adventure more, 2) Live large in the present moment and 3) be appreciative and grateful. Have a Great One!

@Katie D – Bangs are needed on some people (speaking from experience as the proud owner of a fivehead…it needs to be subdued 🙂

I would think one of my mantras is to live according to my own truth not in accordance with others’ approval.

Another would be I cannot control my mad white girl rhythm.

This is a great post! I have found that life has a funny way of breaking rules I set, so I just try to remember this one, and the rest are subject to negotiations: Primum non nocere (latin proverb meaning ‘first, do no harm’).

  6. Danielle January 25, 2013 at 6:29 am #

    Ditto?

Really though. Thanks for sharing these. Very inspiring 🙂

I love this! YOU are inspiring! I must confess, I try to stay away from things called “rules” because I know my tendency to get a little agro and take things like that in the opposite direction as what is intended, but I love how maternalmedia used the word “mantra”, and all of it together inspires a post I have been wanting to write but couldn’t figure out how, so thanks everyone!!! Kate, I will tag you in it when I post it….and I haven’t forgotten about SD cooking day, just went out of town last week and am still getting my legs back underneath me…. 🙂 Thank you thank you thank you!

Love your “rules” especially #1…..and love you.

How I did not see this one? I just realized I was very sick at Rachel’s all that week in Georgia. My last week there. My new favorite rule is “I’m, Done” taught to me from my precious Blaise. I can experience a new “whatever” I want now and make it as good as I want it to be and ….Take a deep breath and go outside and walk for a minute or two everyday. Oh, and get up early and make my husband lunch every morning because he gets to busy and can never get out to eat:) Your posts make me smile…:)

Wonderful to find you! I love your mantra: “She turned her can’t s into cans and her dreams into plans.” Brilliant choice and brilliantly communicated.

    I call mine commitments:

    1. Write in my self-love journal at the end of each day.
    2. Share my heart and my story openly and honestly.
    3. Do everything I can to grow and stretch myself beyond any limiting beliefs.
    4. Work to bring a new reality to the world through http://mysignature.tv.
    5. Be impeccable with my word.
    6. Prioritize my investments. Family first, then souls who yearn for better.
    7. Promote female entrepreneurship world wide as a means to a natural existence.
    8. Do holistic branding for individuals who are looking to live a joyous life consistent with their true nature.
    9. Be gentle with myself and other precious beings.
    10. Allow my curiosity and drive to guide me on my journey with holistic psychiatry and my blog http://homeopathicpsychiatry.wordpress.com

    With love, Amanda
