I want to be on the open road so bad! I was researching hotels last night and found myself grinning with excitement- the haunted Hotel Provincial in New Orleans…the gorgeous Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin…the Abiguiu Inn in New Mexico…each one excites me for a different reason. Everything about the trip excites me actually. I still can’t believe I am finally going to drive across the country!
Have any of you guys made this trip? Any tips??
I also spend waaaaaaaaay tooooooooo much time pinning road trip inspiration photos on my pinterest account! Here are some of my recent favorites…
I spend way to much time pinning in general. It’s like daydreaming on crack and without boundaries. Ha, anyway 🙂 being as I have roadtripped, I’m getting ridiculously excited for you as well. I didn’t stay in hotels like you’re going to, so I can’t advise you lodging-wise, but I will say this: (1) drive during the day so you can enjoy the sights you pass and make sure to leave wiggle room for random “gosh, that’s so pretty” road stops. And (2) figure out one or two things you want to do or see or eat in each city and that’s about it. Leave everything else up to chance and wandering and advice from locals. It’ll make the experience more authentic and even more exciting (it’s possible).
Eek, so soon!
Danielle I loved reading your thoughts considering you have done it all!! You may be the most adventurous girl I know! Thank you thank you thank your advice!

the historic mount washington resort hotel must have been unbelievable back when you could take a train from NYC…
have you been to New England, Quebec, Nova Scotia peninsula and adjoining Cape Breton Island – if you read Anne of Green Gables, you might want to visit PEI too.
Where is the your most favorite place in the world so far? What are your positive and negative comments about the high desert of New Mexico?

I road-tripped with my mom, sister, and grandma when I was about 8 years old, so I am not much help to you other than I can tell you I still remember Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone geysers, and the world’s largest drug store somewhere in the middle of no where. We only went as far as Michigan (to see my great-grandma). zachary koo (typed by my four-year-old who is obsessed by typing his name – he says hello)
Looking forward to hearing more! 🙂
Hello to Zachary! Tell him I’m a big fan of his mom:)
You got chuckles on that one! 🙂
Hey, thanks for following my blog. I just adore road trips, especially the getting lost part where you find things you never knew existed. I’m looking forward to following your journey! If you get as far as NH you can look me up, ha ha, I’m part gypsy too.
You have a lovely blog. Thanks for your words! If we get as far as NH we will most definitely look you up! 🙂
Excitement doesn’t even explain how I feel!!!! It’s more like something incredible is brewing and I can’t wait to see what it is 🙂
